Under the chairmanship of the Ivorian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and with the exceptional participation of his counterparts from Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger and Togo, as well as representatives of the Malian and Senegalese Ministers, the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) organized a high-level regional workshop on e-learning.

The workshop took place on May 10 and 11, 2023 in Abidjan, Noom hotel, as part of the Digital for Development (D4D) Hub African Union - European Union (AU-EU) project, with support from Enabel's Wehubit program.

Its aim was to encourage the various players in distance education in West Africa to step up investment in digital skills, digital infrastructure and connectivity, in order to harness the potential of digital innovation and reduce the digital divide in Africa.

The workshop, also supported by the DIRECCT program, AFD, IRD and the WACREN network, brought together state authorities, academic institutions, private and international partners, as well as civil society players, to promote exchanges and collaboration in the field of distance learning.

The outcome of the workshop was the establishment of a vast, sustainable network for exchange and sharing through the creation of a regional community of practice focused on distance learning issues.
